Depending on your circumstances, you may not feel significant. You might have been overlooked for a promotion, or not received the training or raise you desire. However, your job title or position does not determine your true significance. The value you bring is what matters. I once worked with a custodial engineer who had carpentry skills but was not allowed to use them by the manager. Despite the need for his skills, the manager refused to acknowledge them, leaving the custodial engineer feeling insignificant. This experience made me realize that just because someone hasn’t seen your abilities on display, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. As Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:9, “Eye has not seen…” You may not see the wind, but you can feel it. Similarly, you may not see gravity, but you know it’s there when an apple falls on your head. Just because you can’t see a solution to a problem doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. If a supervisor doesn’t support your growth, they may not have your best interests in mind. Ultimately, you shouldn’t rely on others to feel important.
